Walk from Westover Farm to Wootton Fitzpaine village and the Church

About half an hour on the road. A pleasant day in May (2020)

Westover Farm. Start down the road
Pass the oak tree and down the hill. (Footpath to Charmouth on the right before the tree)

This was the entrance to Knapp Farm when it was a small dairy farm, up until the 1960s. The house in the photograph was the cowstall.

Knapp Farm. Originally a dairy farm. Cows used to walk through the middle of the village to grazing fields. Before that believed to be a public house. (originally thatched)

The church originates from the 13th and 15th centuries, with major restoration in 1872.

Opposite the church entrance (East Lodge) there is a footpath that goes to Coney’s Castle (National Trust)
Wootton House, the Manor House. (PRIVATE). (Not visible from the road). The annual Church Cream Tea event.
